Meet Twins Gabe and Angelica

For more than two decades now, Camp Boggy Creek has created life-changing camp experiences for children with serious illnesses. Our safe, fun, loving, and accepting camp allows our campers to simply forget about their illness for a while and just be kids. Camp doesn’t just end at the end of the summer, Camp Boggy Creek lives on and continues to impact the hearts and minds of our campers throughout their lives. Camp changes lives, and we are excited to share this story with you.

Twins Gabe and Angelica live with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a condition that impacts the skin, joints, and blood vessels. Living with this illness come with many barriers and tough challenges. The twins never imagined going away for a summer camp. They felt they would not fit in and knew most camps are not equipped to treat Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

Gabe and Angelica's mom was beyond excited to know that both, Gabe and Angelica, would experience camp like all the "other" kids here at Camp Boggy Creek. Angelica discovered a love for archery and now competes in a sport that is safe and fun. Gabe felt very welcome and enjoyed his time in the theater where he found that he was no different from anyone else.

The twins were not given just a fun week at Camp, they were given a sense of community, a safe environment, and the opportunity to embrace life beyond their illness.

More children need the healing, empowerment, and life changing experience that Gabe and Angelica had at Camp.
