Camp Boggy Creek Celebrates Co-Founder’s Birthday and Lasting Legacy

“You can’t help someone up a hill without getting a little closer to the top yourself.”
- General Norman Schwarzkopf

EUSTIS, FL. August 22, 2024 - Camp Boggy Creek, A SeriousFun Children's Network Camp that provides free, life-changing camp experiences for children with serious medical illnesses and their families celebrates one of its co-founders on August 22, 2024. General Norman Schwarzkopf, best known for leading the all US and Coalition forces against Iraq, was one of the Co-Founders of Camp Boggy Creek. He was a man full of wisdom, determination, compassion, empathy, and a renowned general. He would have been 90 years old today!

General Schwarzkopf and Actor Paul Newman led the charge to build Camp Boggy Creek in 1996. Both of these kind human beings visited Camp and loved to see the impact that our recreational programming had on these brave kids who have gone through so much. "These children suffer pain, they suffer in ways that you and I never will, and yet there's just children, they shouldn't have to do that." - General Norman Schwarzkopf.

"Camp Boggy Creek helps those children, who have gone through so much just get to be a kid for a few days. They play, they sing, they dance, they make new lifelong friends, they are with other children just like them. General Schwarzkopf helped to make that happen and his legacy continues to help make that happen. Today, we honor his legacy, his passion, and his loving kindness." - Thomas Jelneck, Chief Marketing Officer
